MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!! Takarazuka Musical Romance Emperor 100 BC. In the Golden Palace of the Great Roman Empire. Using a position as the Empress Dowager as an excuse, Agrippina, mother of Emperor Nero, was doing whatever she felt like doing. Her atrocious behavior was causing trouble in the affairs of the Empire. One day, Sabina, a slave, crossed right in front of a carriage Agrippina was in. Getting furious, Agrippina ordered consuls to cut Sabina's head off. It was, however, prohibited by the law made by Nero to ride carriages in the city of Rome in the daytime. Corpuro, a consul and Seneca, Nero's mentor, maintained that it was not Sabina's fault- Agrippina declared she took no heed of the rules Nero had made. Then Nero appeared and ordered to cut Sabina's head off. His cruel order caused quite a commotion among Seneca and others since Nero had been revered by people for his egalitarianism. Meanwhile Agrippina laughed triumphantly. Seneca and others worried that this would hurt Nero's reputation. But Nero wielded his sword on Sabina. He did so to cut off Sabina's handcuffs. Nero secretly let Sabina and her sister Messara go. Nero confided to Seneca that he could not possibly fight his mother no matter how unreasonable she was. After all, he said, Agrippina was the one who enthroned him.Nero was determined to take any criticism on her behalf. Agrippina separated Nero and his wife, Octavia. When Octavia's mother passed away, Agrippina became the empress just to make Nero next emperor. Although Nero and Octavia became siblings, Agrippina arranged to marry them to secure her power. Octavia loved Nero dearly, while Nero considered Octavia as a sweet little sister. Octavia cried over the unrequited love. Octavia's ex-fiance Seeranus told her that he still loved her and he would always be close to her. Agrippina's overbearing behavior was getting out of hands. People were clamoring against her. They expressed distrust toward Nero. Being worried this might cause the collapse of the Great Roman Empire, Bussle and Nero's bodyguards decided to assassinate Emperor Dowager Agrippina. However Nero appeared in the nick of time, and the assassination plot failed. Seneca told Nero that what Bussle and bodyguards had tried to do was for the sake of the Roman Empire. Nero made up his mind to kill Agrippina with his own hands after Seneca talked him into it. Nero murdered Agrippina in agony. Agrippina made confession and made an apology to Nero before she passed away. Her last words were full of motherly 1ove. Knowing the truth, Nero was filled with dismay. He made a vow that he would behave as his mother had behaved so that he could protect her reputation. Nero's atrocious behavior began and people were astonished. They were discouraged by him. Bussle and his men decided to expel Nero with the help of Seeranus, who was an old friend of the former Emperor. Amid this backdrop, Octavia understood Nero's intention and loved him. Nero told what was in his mind to Octavia. Though their romance was doomed, the bonds between them grew stronger. With the joining of the Guards and Consuls, the troops lead by Seeranus and Bussle continued to defeat Nero's forces. Chances were slim for Nero to win. Although Seneca had tried to protect Nero to the very end, an all-out attack was overwhelming. Driven into the tight corner, Nero ordered Sabina and Messara who had rushed to rescue him to set the Palace on fire. Octavia appeared and begged Nero to kill her to wrap up his evil life. Answering her love, he took her life. Stabbing himself, he met a heroic death enveloped in flames. --Dancing Fantasy-- Hemingway Revue Outline Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) “His life and works filled the world with intense light and shadows.” He lived the days when men were most attractive. This revue will shed light on the beauty of “male” performers, making Hemingway as main theme. Featuring Hemingway’s love life, the revue depicts sensuality. Prologue (Scenes 1-4) Hemingway emerges in a ray of light. He is on the brink of death. Memories of his close friends pass through his mind. He sings "Last Message." The goddess of Death whispers to him. "Think over your life. You've got things to do yet." The stage unfolds quickly and brilliantly. The Age of Men Scenes 5-7) A country bumpkin (Joe Russell) sings a song expressing his expectations. He comes to a neighborhood crawling with hookers. The hookers make a fool of him. Meanwhile the bumpkin trasnforms himself into a cadet. Hemingway is wounded, meets his first love Agnes, and falls in love with her. Replacing the Death, Agnes torments Hemingway. Africa represents the earth of life. Men and women sings and dances with passionate mysterious African rhythm. Women are dressed in brilliant colors, while men are wearing white suits. A scene changes. With the setting of the sun, in the back, Hemingway dances alone. Changed clothes to typical African dresses, everybody dances passionately. After making a promise to meet again next year, they leave in the snow. The Caribbean (Scene 16) Hemingway dances with six women he loved. The women leave one by one. Hemingway is left alone with the Caribbean Sea in the back. A cat (the Death) appears. Hemingway – Asaji Saki Agnes – Hoshina Yuri Joe Russell – Minoru Kou Cat (Hell’s Angel) – Ayaki Nao War-Hemingway Cocktail (Scene 17 - 19) On the eve of the war. Men are hanging around in a bar. Hemingway follows men in sensual manner. His beautiful figure represents decadence. Amid the men, we can see the Death. Finally Hemingway yields himself to the Death. We hear the gunfire and the trotting of fighting bulls. "July 2nd, 196,1 Ernest Hemingway committed suicide. He was 61 years old." Against the backdrop of the sea Hemingway loved, he dances barefoot with fairies of the wave.
